| Flora Blackett was born in 1978 and brought up in Galloway, Scotland.
A late starter to painting, she started to paint whilst doing her
A Levels at Tudor Hall School, where she has since been asked back
to paint the headmistress. After leaving School she went to study at the Charles H Cecil studios in Florence, specialising in Portraiture and Figurative pieces. Flora was awarded a scholarship in 1998 which was subsequently followed up by two private sponsorships, enabling her to complete the course of 4 years. During her time at the studio she also helped to teach the British institute figurative classes. The studio is a school of naturalistic painting, drawing and sculpture. Using the site size techniques it looks back to artists such as Velazquez, Van Dyck and Rembrandt and through to more modern artists such as John Singer Sergant and Philip de Lazlo. |

Having now been back in the UK for 6 years, Flora has completed over 100 commissions of portraits and animals as well as many commissions of landscapes, houses and still lifes. Flora's commissions have taken her from the north of Scotland to the south of England as well as to Ireland, Portugal, Hungary and Croatia. Her workds have been collected as far away as the USA. Commissions Include Flora paints from studios in South West Scotland and Battersea, London, she
